The group of black Africans who have been labeled Moors have a wealth of history. However, historians have revealed very little about them. What they have revealed, in fact, is sometimes veiled behind the title “Arab,” which leads us to think that the Moors looked like the modern day Arabs. It is crucial to overstand the chronological history in this case. Furthermore, we encourage our readers to study beyond world history into economic history.
Most of us who have been exposed to information about the Moors have heard of their occupation of Spain between 711 and 1492 AD. Yet, the Moors migrated throughout Europe during this period. By focusing on the occupation of Spain alone, we miss crucial information of Moorish social, political, and economic institutions. In addition, we fail to take into account George Washington’s interaction with them as well as the treaty between the Moors and the United States.
Let’s deviate from here for a moment. The title Moor comes from the French word Muur. Muur means blackness[1]. This is similar to African-Americans being called black today. It is a color not a nationality. We find further evidence of the appearance of the Moors skin in a statement made in 1686 by Bernard Le Bovier de Fontenelle (a French scholar). He states that:
I can tell from here . . . what the inhabitants of Venus are like; they resemble the Moors of Granada; a small black people, burned by the sun, full of wit and fire, always in love, writing verse, fond of music, arranging festivals, dances, and tournaments every day[2].
In his statement, it is evident that the intellectuals of the time knew the Moors had skills and their dark complexion. As demonstrated here, some Europeans recognized the contributions of the Moors while others ignored them.
The Moors are the masterminds behind the development of Europe. They introduced Europeans to the trading system. Recall Europe only had wine and wool to trade (refer to Do Freemasons Worship Lucifer?). They received knowledge from the Moors as well. Our position is the white women are the ones who transferred knowledge to the white men. This is evident in the voyage of Christopher Columbus. He received his financing from Queen Isabella. The Moors introduced him to the queen[3]. However, this concept is beyond the scope of this book.
The Moors established universities throughout Europe[4]. Yet the university systems operated past 1492, when the Moors were expelled from Spain. According to Sylviane A. Diouf, Moorish students were caught in the European Slave Trade. She explains that the students overstood the slavery system. Therefore, they told the kidnappers that they would be replaced by another person, but the kidnappers ignored their negotiations[5].
By taking Diouf’s work into account, the whole concept of a “child-like people” being kidnapped for their common good has to be questioned. Since we now know that the Moors were kidnapped as well, our unanswered questions are being clarified. The many insurrections (revolts; resistances; rebellions) and escapes from captivity were extremely systematic and precise. We will briefly examine 3 acts of insurrections (Haitian Revolution, the singing of gospel songs, and Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad).
During the Haitian Revolution, the African slaves beat three of the most powerful militaries (French, British, and Spanish) as well as the local Haitian military. Since both the authors of this book are military veterans, we know the difficulty that comes with learning and executing military science. A lot goes into the planning and operation process. This is not something a person wakes up to one day and says, “Hey, I got it.”
In order for the African slaves to accomplish such a magnificent feat, there had to be some Moors involved. Recall the occupation of Europe began in 711 AD. Therefore, the Moors had to have knowledge of military strategy to conquer the Spaniards and others. As we discussed, the Moors were highly educated. They knew what military strategies and tactics to use based on their military science. The Moorish students must have studied military sciences as part of their curriculum. Do you see where we are going with this? In other words, the Haitian Revolution was led by educated and trained Moors.
When the African slaves were allowed to participate in the Christian religion, they systematically coded their plans of escape by way of their gospel songs. This is not an easy task. Someone must have had the knowledge of coding or veiling knowledge, so that the captors would not know what was occurring. Coding is still used in the military today.
Then we have the great Harriet Tubman who was able to escape her captors and return to assist others to their freedom. Tubman was not born in Africa. This causes us, as Freemasons, to calculate that there were Moorish secret societies in the slave quarters. The information was only given to those who had the character to receive it. In Tubman’s case, she was taught by someone to read the stars. Astronomy is a difficult science to overstand. Therefore, our position is she was taught through a Moorish secret society system.
These were the insurrections and escapes, but we cannot forget about the intellect and skills that Africans possessed. For example, the claim was the African Benjamin Banneker was taught to read by his white grandmother. He also attended a Quaker school, but was mostly a self-taught mathematician, scientist, astronomer, inventor, writer, surveyor, and he compiled almanacs. This is extremely incredible if he did most of this himself. Although it is well know that Banneker was highly qualified and skilled, legend has it that he memorized the French architect and engineer Pierre Charles L’Enfant plans to design DC (refer to our book Do Freemasons Worship Lucifer where we explored the French involvement in Freemasonry). This is a systematic slap in the face, as if Banneker is not capable of such a project. The reality is a person has to be highly skilled in astronomy and geometry (measurement of the earth) to be able to align both. Banneker was undoubtedly more of an expert than L’Enfant. Still, Banneker learned these skills from someone, and this someone we are claiming had to be a Moor.
Although this section focuses on the Moors, we will further examine how information passed through the generations beginning with the Africans is still relevant today. Scholars argue that traces of African traditions have survived because of transgenerational memories, which does not have to have a direct experience. Our position is the Moors were present and kept the African traditions secretly alive.
